Alice in Wonderland Book Review
Ruth Christensen
Recently I read “Alice in Wonderland” By Lewis Carol. “Alice in Wonderland” is about a little girl named Alice that falls down a rabbit hole to the curious world of Wonderland. She then travels through Wonderland meeting strange creatures such as The Mad Hatter, the Cheshire cat and the Queen of Hearts. I really loved the characters and witty dialog in this book. Carol did a really good job at making the characters funny enough that it balances out the craziness. The book to me relays the message of growing in character. In the book Alice keeps coming across magical food that can grow or shrink you and near the end of the book she finds herself growing rapidly. But don’t be mistaken, she not only grew in size, she grew in character as well. At the beginning of the book she was timid and pushed around some by the Wonderlanders, but as the story went on she really gained some confidence. This is a really wonderful story (pun intended).
I didn’t have a whole lot of problems with this book or really any problems for that matter. If I had to say one thing I didn’t like most would be the fact that the Wonderlanders would start stories and you wanted to know how the ended but then they switch topics or just leave before they reached the end. Also some Wonderlanders do get annoying from time to time being so crazy, mad and sometimes clueless. But I guess that’s the wonder of Wonderland. I thought Carol did such a great job on this book and that the characters and places were really neat. If you just keep reading the book until the end, not giving up on the Wonderlanders tendency to babble, you will really be rewarded at the end. I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating. Have a wonderful trip to Wonderland.
